Discrimination and Stigma: LGBTQ2S++ seniors often face discrimination and stigma based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. This can lead to social isolation, limited support networks, and barriers to accessing inclusive services.
Social Isolation: Many LGBTQ2S++ seniors experience social isolation due to factors such as the loss of partners, estrangement from family, or limited social support networks. This isolation can negatively impact their mental health and overall well-being.
Health Disparities: LGBTQ2S++ seniors may experience higher rates of physical and mental health issues due to a combination of factors, including minority stress, lack of culturally competent healthcare providers, and limited access to appropriate healthcare services.
Lack of Inclusive Housing: Many seniors may struggle to find safe and inclusive housing options that understand and respect their unique needs. Discrimination in the housing market can result in limited affordable housing choices and higher rates of homelessness among LGBTQ2S++ seniors.
Evidence shows that loneliness and isolation are major health concerns we must address.
A community is more than a building, it's a place where we can thrive as our authentic self
Through focus groups, research and community outreach we define what housing and community programs looks like for us.

The Living with Pride Foundation is a non profit registered BC society created in 2022 specifically to address the need for purpose built seniors housing in Vancouver for our aging LGBTQ2S++ community, address isolation and loneliness and create safe queer seniors spaces.
We are here to support, advocate for and work with local organizations who deliver the programs and services we depend on.
Bringing together academics, community builders and politicians to develop a plan to deliver queer seniors housing
Planning focus groups, studies and community outreach to define what safe spaces look like for you
Working with industry experts to identify sustainable housing models
Partnering with local organizations to build synergies that will enrich our goals and support our mission
Without volunteers we simply could not exist. Volunteers are our single most important resource.
You can make a real difference in the lives of LGBTQ2s++ seniors.
To enhance the quality of life of older adults by providing social, recreational, educational and supportive programs and services that foster connection and inclusion in the broader community.

Systemic, societal, and individual experiences of oppression, erasure and invisibility are not new for 2SLGBTQI+ seniors; they have survived with tremendous strength and resilience for many decades. As these communities become especially vulnerable toward the last stages of their lives, we need to support them and advocate on their behalf.
